DCD Rights lines up new international deals for Tern TV content

DCD Rights lines up new international deals for Tern TV content

Independent UK based distributor DCD Rights has signed a host of acquisitions around the world for new and upcoming factual content from leading producer Tern TV, it announced today, as part of its ongoing deal with the award-winning factual specialist.

Produced for Channel 4, Flights From Hell: Caught On Camera, a one-hour special exploring extremes of behaviour in airports and on planes, has been secured by Nine Network (Australia), Sky TV (New Zealand), BBC Brit (Poland), TV 2 (Denmark), RTL Netherlands, TV2 (Norway) and Channel 8 (Israel).

Sky TV New Zealand is also the first broadcaster to pick up presale rights to Tern’s brand new Emergency Helicopter Medics, produced for Channel 4. This unique access observational documentary series follows the pioneering flying doctor teams who are making medical history by using revolutionary skills and equipment to deliver a cutting edge ‘hospital in the field’. DCD Rights will debut the new 10 x 60’ series to the international market at MIPTV.

Also showcasing in Cannes will be World’s Wildest Weather: Caught On Camera, a 2 x 60’ special for Channel 4 – already presold to TVNZ – investigating the human stories, jaw-dropping footage and science behind our planet’s most extreme weather, as told and filmed by ordinary people caught in ‘the eye of the storm’.

Produced for Channel 4, Best Laid Plans is heading to Blue Ant Media for its Cottage Life Channel in Canada, ITI Neovision (Domo+) in Poland and to AMC Networks International – Central and Northern Europe which will see it premiering on the channel Spektrum Home in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia. The ten-part series follows architectural designer Charlie Luxton and property developer Sophie Morgan as they join forces to help the nation’s biggest and boldest home improvers.

Finally, with a third season set to launch at MIP-TV, the second ratings-winning season of The Art Detectives, which almost doubled BBC Four’s ratings with its headline-grabbing discovery of a lost Rubens masterpiece, has picked up new broadcasters in New Zealand (Sky TV), France and French-speaking Europe (Histoire) and the USA (APT). In the new series, leading art detective, Dr Bendor Grosvenor, and leading social historian, Emma Dabiri, track down more lost and hidden art treasures to restore, resurrect and rehang.

Nicky Davies Williams, CEO at DCD Rights, commented, “We’re delighted to see our ongoing partnership with the renowned team at Tern TV continue to deliver such diverse factual content which clearly holds strong appeal on the international stage. Establishing and building successful relationships with leading producers is front and centre of our strategy, ensuring our position as the go-to distributor for intelligent, unique and compelling factual content.”
