9/28/2009 - DCD Publishing expands portfolio with new brands
DCD Publishing are delighted to announce that they have inked representation deals for two new exciting children’s properties, adding up to a fast expanding animation portfolio:

Holly Frean’s My Family And Other Monsters - is a brilliant new children’s concept by award wining artist Holly Frean. A cross between Richard Scarry’s Busytown and Monsters Inc, the illustrated animation is based on main character Maurice, a monster who stands out from the crowd, and lives in a monster-sized house with his siblings, parents and pet snake in Monsterville on Planet Monster.

Adrian Sington, Chief Executive, DCD Publishing commented: “Holly Frean’s My Family And Other Monsters represents an excellent addition to our animation catalogue; with great interest from publishers (a publishing deal already in negotiation) and animation under development, I am truly excited by the prospects generated by this unique new children’s concept”.

The Adventures of Eagle and Sass – is a beautiful and original ‘green’ children’s concept by Joanna and Christopher Lockwood (founder of Distill magazine and ex-publisher of Wallpaper magazine) that will feature in animation series and picture books for 4-7 year olds.

A cross between Dora the Explorer and EH Shepard, each story sees Sass, a gutsy little girl, and Eagle, her protector and environmental teacher, launch into an adventure that takes them to some of the world’s most endangered and breathtaking places.

“Joanna and I are constantly amazed at how passionately small children care about animals and the planet. We are extremely excited to be breaking entirely new ground by marrying dynamic international adventure stories between animals and children with stunning images to inspire, delight and gently educate children all over the world” said Christopher Lockwood.

Colin Butfield, Head of Campaigns, World Wildlife Fund UK, added “Stories like these are great ways of engaging children in environmental issues and more importantly leaving them feeling inspired and hopeful that we will find ways of tackling them”.

DCD Publishing are seeking strategic co-production partners to develop the animation and will be brokering merchandising and publishing deals internationally.
